Our Walking Loop

I love our neighborhood. We live in (what I think is) one of the prettiest areas in our city. We are 3 houses down from Cranberry Pond where we have access for kayaking. We are a skip and a hop from Long Pond just past the playground right across the street from our house (plus there is another playground within walking distance on the canal between Long Pond and the Lake). And we are less than 1/4 of a mile down the street from the Lake. When we were "house shopping" online 2 years ago and looked up this house on a satellite map we thought it was too good to be true to be in such a cool waterfront community and wouldn't be available long enough for us to get to town to even look at it! We always said if we ever moved back home it would have to be near the water that we missed so much living in the midwest. God is so good!

So we quite enjoy taking walks around here taking in the beautiful scenery. We basically have 2 loops that we like to do, and anywhere we go we are looking at water. Tonight I happened to grab the camera on the way out the door as we did our current favorite loop (minus a stop at one of the two playgrounds tonight since it was close to bedtime). We start out along Cranberry Pond. The end of our street dead ends into the Lake where we can go down to a little beach. We stopped there so the kids could climb on the rocks and dip their feet in the sand and water.

Once we left the beach we continued along the Lake and then cut over to the road parallel that takes us back along Long Pond. The kids enjoy stopping to see the ducks, swans, and blue herons that live there. If it's late enough we can catch a gorgeous sunset over the water too! I love how the water looks so different every day...today it was a peaceful silver color. On bright sunny days and sometimes at dusk it is a bright turquoise blue. I am so thankful for the place we live and the beauty we get to enjoy here!
