Update on the Kids' Health

I am happy to say that Riley has shown much improvement healthwise over the weekend. It was very frustrating to not know what was wrong and scary that it wasn't getting any better. By the beginning of last week he was still throwing up and having massive problems out the other end as well, but on top of that started getting fevers, fatigue, and lost his appetite. Since his symptoms were so prolonged it was unlikely to be a virus like we originally thought. So since the sample we sent in came back negative for any parasites or bacteria, I took him in to the office and got a strep test (which was negative) and blood work done (which was inconclusive). So they decided to put him on an antibiotic (which is rarely done for kids his age because of the side effects it can have on the kidneys). He continued to have ups and downs, but Friday was a really good day and it seemed like his system was getting back to normal and his appetite was coming back! We assume that he had a type of bacterial infection that isn't routinely tested for. We are all going to be glad to get back to our regular routine around here after such a long quarentine!

Miss Naomi had her stitches out on Weds night and her cut looks like it is going to heal up very nicely. She is still fighting some congestion and appears to have pink eye or a similar virus that is manifesting in her eyes, so we are praying that will heal up quickly so she can get back to normal too! We have been in the hospital and doctor's offices WAY too much this month!

I have to say that we were extremely blessed to have some very good friends help out during these last couple weeks- between bringing a couple meals over, to watching the kids and loaning me a car while ours was in the shop, to sending us out for dinner and babysitting for the evening, to all the emails and prayers and phone calls checking in on us. We are thankful beyond words for the kindness and love we have been shown from some amazing people in our lives during this tough stretch, and for mom and dad who are always there for us, rain or shine :) .

I'm so glad Riley is feeling better! How scary. Hopefully Naomi is better soon, too! Leah is finally better but Matthew is all congested..again. Seems to never end this time of year! I'll keep praying for you all!

Glad to hear Riley is feeling better (and that it was nothing serious) and that Naomi did well with the stitches.
