Trip to Pittsburgh

This past weekend we took a quick trip to Pittsburgh to visit Uncle Josh, my brother. Brad was able to come for part of the time, and my parents met us there and the kids and I rode home with them. It was a tiring trip, and unfortunately Riley was sick while we were there, but we made the most of our time and enjoyed being together.

A highight for Naomi was making pink cupcakes with Uncle Josh. They both love to cook (and eat!) so it was fun to watch her help him in the kitchen. And boy those were some yummy cupcakes! What a great Uncle! :)

We also took the kids to the Children's Museum. It wasn't nearly as cool as our own, but it was a fun morning and we are glad we went.

The kids liked the garage portion, especially the car. Riley thought it was very cool that he could "pump" the gas.

It was good for the kids to have some time with daddy. We haven't seen much of him the last couple weeks with his night shift schedule, so they were soaking it up.

Riley's favorite part was the water play room. The kids suited up in the rain jackets and had a ton of fun with the boats and water toys.

This is how Naomi would ride the elevator - she had us cracking up! She would face the back wall and hang on to the rail with both hands. Too cute.

Naomi's favorite part (and mine too!) was the art room. There were sooo many cool project areas. We made a couple different kinds of prints, including some really awesome ones of the kids' handprints that I am saving in their memory boxes. Riley did some scultping with playdough and Naomi unleashed her creative side painting freehand on the easels.

Afterwards we walked to an ice cream shop before heading home for lunch!

We have some fun holiday activities planned in the next week, and I will have some more home improvement photos to show very soon! We are going to try and wrap up the master bedroom this weekend (I know some of you have told me you are dying to see the finished headboard!) , and we started the demolition on the entryway where our house revealed a nice little surprise. I've also been getting pretty crafty lately and will have some fun little projects to share...so check back soon!
