Sunday was a Big Day

Sunday was a big day. It wasn't because of the Superbowl game either. Two and a half years ago our church started a 4.2 million dollar building project that included a new worship center, new nurseries, and a new classroom for the oldest generation, as well as a renovation of the old worship center into an atrium with a welcome center, cafe and bookstore. Sunday was the first day using the new facilities and it was awesome! God has been so faithful to our church. Back when I started attending in 1993 there was one service with about 250 people in the church. Before we opened our new building, we were having three services with over 800 people and I heard that this past Sunday there were well over 1000 people in attendance! Wow! I am looking forward to seeing how God will use this new building He has provided and blessed us with to reach people and change their lives. We also were able to make it to two Superbowl parties on Sunday. It was good to be with family and friends! Poppy and Elijah spent some quality time napping together while we were at Mimi's house. At our friend's house, they turned the dining room into a kid's room with blankets and pillows on the floor, toys and games, and a little tv for them to watch some kid's movies, so we all had a great time!


We also lost a dear family friend Sunday morning to cancer. Whitey was like an honorary grandpa in the family. He was the sweet, funny old man who called everyone sweetheart and doll face. Every one who met him fell in love with him. The kids befriended him from the moment they met him and were always asking if he could come over to play and especially attend their birthday parties.
